Application
Marriage licenses can be obtained from the Summit County Clerk's Office. Both parties must appear in-person with proper identification and proof of age to sign the application.
You may fill out an application before your appointment, print it, and bring it with you to your appointment. When filling out the information about your parents, please use your mother's last name at birth.
All marriage licenses are valid for ceremonies performed anywhere in the State of Utah within 30 days of issuance. If, for any reason, the license is not used, please return it to the Clerk's Office. Do not destroy it. Refunds or extensions cannot be given.
Fees
The cost if $50 and the license is good for 30 days. We accept cash, check, and credit cards. This fee will include 2 certified copies. Each additional copy is $6.00. Generally, 2 copies are sufficient. You can use your certified copies if you are changing your name.
Minors Requesting a Marriage License
If the applicant is 16 or 17 years of age, a parent with legal custody or a legal guardian must be present with ID to give consent.
Solemnizing Marriages
Ministers, rabbis, or priests of any religious denomination who are in regular communion with any religious society and are 18 years of age or older may solemnize marriages.
Others who may solemnize marriages include municipal mayors and judges.
