Residential Collection
2026 Waste & Recycling Schedule
Curbside Collection is the most common form of waste removal. It encompasses specialized trucks that collect waste at regular intervals. Household waste is then transferred to the Three Mile Canyon Landfill. County-issued bins reduce solid waste and encourage recycling. Recycling is collected and taken to a materials recovery facility, where it is sorted. This recycling process is known as single-stream recycling.
Solid Waste Collection in Summit County is contracted through Republic Services for all residential units as defined by policy. Garbage and Recycling can be collected between 7 AM - 7 PM, Monday - Friday, unless it falls on one of the following scheduled holidays: Christmas, New Year's Day, Independence Day, and Thanksgiving. Weather delays may also prohibit scheduled pickups. Please see the schedule below for more information.
Republic Services' Winter Policy
If your recycling and/or trash is not picked up on your service day, bring your carts in after 7 p.m. Put them out the next morning by 7 a.m. for pickup. If the carts are still unable to be serviced, they will not be collected until the next regularly scheduled service day (the following week for trash or two weeks for recycling). Summit County residents may receive trash and recycling updates by emailing summitcounty@republicservices.com. Include your address and phone number to receive these updates.
