Eastern Summit County Planning District | Zoning, Development, & Land Use

Governing Documents

There are two governing documents that guide Eastern Summit County's growth and development:

The General Plan describes the "big picture" citizens envision for their community. Using the General Plan as a guide, the Development Code is written to regulate how new development and redevelopment of existing areas can be done so that, over time, the citizens' vision is realized.

Planning Commission Agenda and Staff Reports

The Planning Commission meets regularly on the first and third Thursday of each month.  Planning Commission agendas and staff reports for each meeting are available online the Friday preceding the meeting.

Eastern Summit County Planning Commission

The Eastern Summit County Planning Commission is composed of residents of the Eastern area of Summit County, who serve three-year terms. Planning commissioners are appointed by the County Council. Their main role is to review and make recommendations on land use, zoning, and development proposals to ensure they align with the Eastern Summit County General Plan and zoning regulations.
