General Plans are typically revisited and updated every five to ten years to ensure that the community's values and expectations for the future are considered. A General Plan acts as a guiding document to inform development decisions for the next ten to twenty years.
The Snyderville Basin General Plan was last updated was in 2015. The Eastern Summit County General Plan was first created in 2013 and has not been significantly updated since. However, there have been amendments to both plans to accommodate new State regulations.
The County has initiated the process to update both the Snyderville Basin General Plan and the Eastern Summit County General Plan. The updates to both General Plans will include the following:
- Research to understand existing conditions
- Community Engagement
- Updates to Goals and Policies in each plan
- Creation of Implementation Strategies
- Collaboration with the corresponding Advisory Committees, stakeholders, and County staff
- Public hearings with the Planning Commissions and the County Council
