Restoration Events
Summit County Lands & Natural Resources hosted the first Willow Planting event in Big Bear Hollow at the 910 Ranch, planting over 700 willows to complement additional cottonwoods and willows planted by our partners as part of a larger riparian restoration project. In September 2025, the L&NR Department hosted the first ever barbed wire pull on the 910 Ranch. Thousands of feet of wire were removed, allowing wildlife easier passage from the uplands to East Canyon Creek.

Guided Hikes and Interpretive Walks
Summit County Lands & Natural Resources hosted its first Wildflower Walk on the 910 Ranch in June 2025 with Mindy Wheeler, Native Plant Conservation Project Leader at Utah State University. Mindy, an expert on native plants and invasive weeds of the Wasatch, led participants on an educational walk through the ranch’s blooms. We were grateful for the opportunity to highlight her expertise and connect the community with the unique plant life of this special landscape. In the fall of 2025, Summit County hosted a "Last Chance for Leaves" walk on the 910 Ranch to highlight the Western Aspen Alliance's expertise in aspen ecology and management.
910 Ranch Public Input
The 910 Ranch Survey: Shaping the Future of the 910 Ranch was open from December 20, 2024, to January 31, 2025, and nearly 1,400 responses were collected. Summit County also hosted a series of 910 Ranch Open Houses, where community members had the opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on a range of topics related to the 910 Ranch, including but not limited to land use planning, wildlife, restoration, recreation, and agricultural uses. Please visit the 910 Ranch website to learn more.
