[ARCHIVED] Construction update from UDOT on their Summit County Area Projects

Road Work - UDOT

Westbound US-40 Flyover to westbound I-80:

The westbound (WB) flyover ramp to westbound I-80 is reduced to a single lane through August.

TONIGHT, Tuesday, July 30 at 8 p.m. through Wednesday morning, July 31 at 5 a.m., crews will temporarily close the WB US-40 to WB I-80 ramp for full-depth concrete slab replacement. Westbound US-40 to WB I-80 traffic will be diverted to Silver Creek Road (Exit 1) and proceed to the signalized intersection to gain access to WB I-80.

US-40; SR-248 to I-80 Pavement Rehabilitation:

Construction crews continue removing and replacing cracked and broken concrete roadway sections in both directions of US-40. Crews are using "rapid set" concrete mix to allow for expedited curing and reduced lane closures. Watch for shifting lane configurations while this work is underway.

TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 31 at midnight through Thursday, August 1 at 6 a.m., westbound on and off ramps to Exit 2 (Silver Summit) will be closed for pavement repairs. Please follow posted detour signs to Exit 4/Old Hwy 40.

MONDAY August 5 from 10 p.m. through Tuesday, August 6 at 5 a.m., eastbound on and off ramps to Exit 2 (Silver Summit) will be closed for pavement repairs. Detour to Exit 4, follow detour signs.

Kimball Junction:

Currently, the right shoulder is closed on the eastbound offramp (Exit 145) at Kimball Junction while crews complete drain improvements. Crews have installed temporary barriers to perform their work in a safe manner.

TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 31, we will be closing the right lane of the off-ramp for pavement replacement. This configuration is expected to be in place for up to 3 weeks. Plan ahead for potential delays.

SR-248 Interchange:

Construction is underway at the US-40 & SR-248 interchange (Exit 4). Work includes curb and gutter replacement, upgrading storm drainage, reconstruction of pedestrian ramps to ensure transitions are accessible to everyone, and roadway widening for eastbound and westbound US-40 off-ramps, adding a lane to better facilitate traffic flow to westbound SR-248. Other improvements include new traffic signals and the addition of a lane to access westbound US-40 from eastbound SR-248.
