[ARCHIVED] Summit County Property Owners Can Submit Notice of Intent to Sell Land for Use as Open Space

Summit County Property Owners Can Submit Notice of Intent to Sell Land for Use as Open Space

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Summit County, Utah (Nov. 29, 2022) — Summit County property owners interested in having their land evaluated for qualified use of General Obligation (GO) bond funds for Open Space can now submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) online. The NOI process alerts the Summit County Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC) and the County Manager of the landowner’s intent and starts the evaluation process. Information about the NOI process, detailed GO Bond information, and a link to submit an NOI can be found online summitcounty.org/publiclands.

In November 2021, Summit County voters approved a $50 million GO Bond for Open Space. In the months that followed, the Summit County Council adopted an ordinance establishing OSAC and three regional advisory groups encompassing North Summit, South Summit, and Western Summit County. The purpose of OSAC is to represent the public interest of Summit County residents by advising and providing recommendations to the County Manager regarding the identification, evaluation, and possible acquisition of property interests using GO Bond dollars.

“The OSAC members have worked very hard to perfect the NOI process, the evaluation criteria, and scoring matrix,” Summit County Public Lands Manager Jess Kirby said. “While the process has taken almost a year to complete, it was a necessary exercise in order to capture the countywide public interest that will be needed to implement these open space funds.”

County residents should expect this NOI process to be ongoing until GO bond funds have been fully utilized.
