Grant Information for Non-Profits & Projects in Summit County, UT - Apply for Tax Grants

Summit County provides annual grants to local non-profit and governmental entities based off revenue from specific sales tax initiatives. These grants help fund various projects that aim to improve the quality of life for residents as well as expand tourist interest and investment in the County.

There are several different grants available from the County awarded generally on an annual basis. The following is a brief synopsis of each grant with the general schedule for applications.

  • Non-Profit Grants
    Please note that possible grant funding for 2026, is not guaranteed, and the amount of granted funds is subject to revision by the County Council. The deadline for the grant application is 5:00 PM, Thursday, July 31, 2025. Late submissions, or those missing any supporting documents, will NOT be considered.

    Funding is determined during the County’s budget process in December. Awarded grants to non-profit entities are distributed the following year.

  • Restaurant Tax Grant
    The intent of this grant is to assist governmental and non-profit entities with tourism promotion and/or development, operation, and maintenance projects and programs that bring tourism in from outside of the County. Monies from awarded grants are made available in May. Applications are available March 2nd and due by March 31st, 2026 by 5:00pm
        
  • Recreation, Arts & Parks – Recreation Grant (RAP)   Funding for the RAP – Recreation Grant is provided by a special sales tax initiative approved by the Utah State Legislature. This allows 0.1% of sales tax within the County to be spent on arts and recreation opportunities within the County. The term “recreational facility” is defined in Utah Code § 59-12-702 (8) to mean “a publicly owned or operated park, campground, marina, dock, golf course, playground, athletic field, gymnasium, swimming pool, trail system, or other facility used for recreational purposes.” The grant fund application specifies that only publicly owned or operated parks, campgrounds, marinas, docks, golf courses, playgrounds, athletic fields, gymnasiums, swimming pools, trail systems or other facilities used for recreational purposes qualify for funding with RAP/Recreation taxes.”
     
    The online application will be available September 1, closing September 30th, 2025, at 5:00 PM

  • Recreation, Arts & Parks – Cultural Grant (RAP)
    Projects and programs funded by this grant have included art education, dance, history, music, visual arts, theatre, folk arts, and more. Monies will be award in May. Applications are available March 2nd and due by March 30th , 2026 by 5:00pm.
